Twenty Fellowship Programs Every Mason Graduate Student Should Know About

19 Feb Posted by in Uncategorized | Comments

It’s the dregs of winter, but spring is just around the corner — that time when all graduate students minds turn to thoughts of FUNDING.

Or at least they should.  Spring is the ideal time to start thinking ahead about how fellowships and grants may figure into your future.  Many competitions will open their new cycles in spring and summer, and come next fall deadlines will rain down one after another.  This means summer is the time to get working on your applications, which in turn means spring is the time to get informed.

But where to begin?  This post will be the first in my spring series on learning to identify fellowship opportunities.  Let’s start easy with a list.  Not every fellowship on this list will work for you, but it’s likely at least one or two will.  There’s something here for just about everybody.  Even the one’s that maybe won’t work for you right now are good to know about, because they might come in handy later on, or you might one day have students of your own who can benefit from your knowledge of the funding landscape.  If nothing else, they will give you a sense of the various types of awards that are out there for graduate students.  So here goes:
