Graduate Fellowships for Underrepresented Minorites: Opportunity in Diversity

December 6, 2012 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Free

This session will offer information about fellowship and scholarship programs for graduate students, with a special focus on opportunities for individuals from under-represented groups (including, but not limited to, persons of Black/African American, Latino/Hispanic, Asian American, Native American, Native Alaskan, and Pacific Islander heritage.)

Both current graduate students (master’s, doctoral, and professional) and undergraduate students considering graduate school are welcome to attend.  The awards and opportunities highlighted will include a range of programs, from those for students newly entering graduate school to dissertation and post-doctoral awards.

Many fellowship programs have been established in an effort to promote diversity in the academic and professional realms by offering support to candidates from under-represented backgrounds.  Other graduate fellowship opportunities are open to all, but actively seek to recruit candidates from diverse backgrounds.

These awards exist in all fields, from the arts and humanities to the social sciences and STEM fields.  They offer funding for study, research, and professional development.  Join us to learn more about these opportunities, and about the support services available through the Office of Graduate Fellowships.
