Fellowship Pathways to Federal Government Careers

October 22, 2013 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

This session, offered as part of Mason Career Services’ Government Week programs, will focus on fellowships for graduate study, research, or professional development that offer inroads to careers in the U.S. Federal Government.

The session will cover the well-known PMF program, which offers holders of graduate degrees the opportunity to obtain a two-year paid work placement in the Federal Government, with the intent to groom them for permanent employment at the managerial level.  We will also look at the wide variety of program that offer similar post-graduation professional development assignments with government agencies, think tanks, and NGOs.

We will also look at international opportunities such as the Boren Awards and Critical Language Scholarships, which offer training in critical languages with privileged access to government careers for alumni.

Finally, we will share information about the Rangel, Payne, and Pickering Fellowships, which fund graduate education at the MA-level and groom candidates for Foreign Service careers.
